Oh shit man sorry to hear that Crying or Very sad

Did you cross thread it? Only asking cos the caps are quite big & it would take a lot to over tighten them. Have you got a torque wrench?

yep cross threaded,im working on the basis that the caps are aluminium and quite a soft metal, the tubes are stainless,so hopefully the caps th only thing knackered.

You may be right, lets hope.
Could you get a Tap to clean the threads in the fork tube out and maybe re-cut any damaged ones, but don't know if you can get Taps that size?

Never seen one that big,i suppose a specialist will do one,im going to order a new cap and see how it goes,i have had to tighten the cross threaded one down tight as i need the bike for work, the forks on ebay are cheap but i will try the new cap first, the trouble is the thread is so fine its hard to locate the cap properly,

Fork caps are not disposable items like oil filters, air filters abd bulbs, they dont need changing each time you remove them,Whats the betting there is a long wait for them to be delivered though !!
