I have read that some of you XTer's are getting some noise from various bits of the body work.

I found that my number plate could create quite a din especially with the engine idling. Simple fix, double sided rubber strip stuck behind the plate and onto the little support 'tit' that is part of the no. plate mount.

The other blighter that was really annoying is the rear light unit, now I know Yamaha designed a bit of free play into this assembly to stop the bulb from popping but boy does the light unit flap around. At first I thought something was amiss it was so loose. When I checked a new bike out it was just the same. To stop/limit this excess travel I glued a strip of fairing screen trim to the top forward edge of the rear lense, this still allows the vibration to be lost through the loose mount effect but there is no rattle/vibration any more. Wink

Hope this mod is useful to you Very Happy
