What make was the rear sprocket. I've got an ali renthal one on mine and it seems fine. You can get hard anodised ones on special order but I can't see them being needed for the road. I know lots of people using the regular ali rears and I've never heard of them wearing out that quickly. Personally I would have asked for a refund. Obvious question but you did replace the chain at the same time as the sprockets didn't you?
